Three-tone geometric cube-pattern marble floor tiles in a Canyon Lake home entryway

Geometric Entryway Floor

Canyon Lake, TX

This entryway floor in a Canyon Lake residence uses a three-tone diamond/cube pattern in dark green, terra cotta, and cream marble tiles. The optical illusion effect the pattern creates depends entirely on consistent joint widths and precise 60-degree angles — even a small deviation in one tile throws the cube illusion off. We used a laser level to establish the grid lines and set each tile against a string line for the duration of the installation.

The tile sizes are all identical rhombus shapes cut from full tiles, which required careful sequencing of cuts to minimize waste and keep the color distribution balanced across the room.

What We Did

  1. Established laser-level reference lines at exact 60-degree angles to the entry door
  2. Cut rhombus tiles from full-size marble in three tones; sorted by color before setting
  3. Set tiles in sequence following the cube pattern, checking alignment every three rows
  4. Grouted with sanded grout in a neutral gray; sealed marble surface and grout joints
